18-year-old Devon Erickson and 16-year-old Alec McKinney, both students at STEM School Highlands Ranch, carried out a shooting that resulted in one death and eight injuries. Their familiarity with the school environment made the attack more alarming.
Sequence of Events
On May 7, 2019, the two students brought firearms to the school and opened fire in a classroom. Kendrick Castillo, a student, was killed while trying to stop the attackers. The incident highlighted the bravery of students and the need for preventive measures in schools.
