Titanic’s Record-Breaking Production
A Set That Sinks
James Cameron’s “Titanic” featured an enormous replica of the ship, built at a cost of $20 million. The set was constructed to be as accurate as possible, even including a mechanism to sink it partially into the water. This dedication to realism added an authentic feel to the film, contributing to its massive success.
Cold and Wet Performances
The famous scene where Jack and Rose cling to a piece of debris in the icy waters was not just acting. The water was kept extremely cold to capture the actors’ genuine reactions to the freezing temperatures. Kate Winslet, who played Rose, later admitted that she suffered from hypothermia while filming these intense and chilling scenes.
