Michael J. Fox’s Double Duty
“Back to the Future” almost had a different lead. Eric Stoltz was originally cast as Marty McFly, but after several weeks of filming, the producers felt he wasn’t right for the role. Michael J. Fox, the first choice, was brought in. Fox had to juggle filming both “Back to the Future” and his TV show “Family Ties,” often working long hours with little sleep.
The Delorean’s Iconic Status
The time-traveling Delorean became an instant icon, but it wasn’t the first choice for the time machine. The original script featured a time-traveling refrigerator. The change was made to avoid encouraging children to climb into refrigerators, and the Delorean’s sleek, futuristic design was a perfect fit for the movie’s sci-fi elements.
