Black Swallower
Animal Overview: The black swallower is famous for its ability to consume prey larger than itself, thanks to its distensible stomach. It can eat fish twice its length and ten times its mass.
Habitat and Behavior: Living at depths of 700 to 2,750 meters, black swallowers hunt by ambushing their prey. They are found in the Atlantic Ocean and can expand their jaws and stomach to swallow large fish whole.
