Animal Overview: The giant isopod is a deep-sea crustacean resembling an oversized pill bug. These creatures can grow up to 30 centimeters in length and have a segmented, armored exoskeleton.
Habitat and Behavior: Living in the deep waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, giant isopods are scavengers, feeding on dead marine animals. They can survive for long periods without food, thanks to their slow metabolism.
