Dark Patches and Addison’s Disease
Dark patches on the skin can suddenly appear and are often not a major concern, particularly after sun exposure. Yet, on rare occasions, these patches may signal Addison’s disease, an autoimmune condition where damaged adrenal glands fail to produce adequate cortisol. While Addison’s disease poses serious health risks, it remains manageable with proper care.
Symptoms may include back aches, vomiting, and low blood pressure, typically manifesting during sporadic episodes.
