Rock ‘n roll star Elvis Presley made a big purchase on April 17, 1975. The musician purchased a Convair 880 Jet, which Delta Airlines had taken out of service. He bought it for $250,000, and, after he refurbished it to his specifications, the cost of the jet was $600,000. In today’s money, that worked out to a total cost of $2.973 million.
He immediately named the craft The Lisa Marie, after his daughter, Lisa Presley. After his death, Lisa Marie inherited the private jet. However, The Lisa Marie wasn’t Presley’s only jet—he also owned The Hound Dog II, a Lockheed JetStar, and a 1962 Lockheed.
