Avocados won’t ripen if they’re stored in the refrigerator
Let’s be honest; avocados are one of the most popular fruits on the market. It seems as though everyone loves smashed avocado on their toast – maybe even with a poached egg on top – which means that the world needs to know how to store them properly. Most of the time, the avocados you buy in the supermarket aren’t ripe.
It’s your job to ripen them at home, but you don’t do that by placing them in the refrigerator. Ripening only occurs at room temperature, and putting them in the cold will actually stop the ripening process. Try storing your avocados on the side or in the pantry instead, where they can ripen until they’re ready to use.
