Cucumber can get torn and absorb harmful bacteria in the fridge
Plenty of us store vegetables and salad items in the fridge because we believe it keeps them fresh for longer, but it seems as though that isn’t always the case. Researchers at the University of California have found that storing your cucumber in the fridge could actually cause more damage than if you kept it at room temperature.
It’s been noted that the cold temperatures can cause little tears in the skin which will ultimately absorb any bacteria in the air and then rot the insides. To combat this, always keep your cucumber in a room temperate environment and away from direct sunlight. At least that’s the case until you cut into it, anyway.
